this is my favorite painting from the semester in intro to painting ... i had to sit outside in the freezing weather ... while the water from a fountain near by strayed me ... the painting teacher was ignoring me so the original painting had a port-o-potty painted into the top right corner ... but i took it out later ...
just the other day in my latin class i learned that we get the word dexterity from a latin word meaning right hand ... and we get the word sinister from a latin word meaning left hand ... and that just completely made my day seeing as im left handed ... also at dinner i got in a pretty serious argument about left vs right handed people ... the right handed people claimed that they needed a scholarship too ... i told them to shove it (not really that a little too mean) ... i have to deal with writing on those stupid right handed desks all day every day ... also auditoriums with those desks on the chairs are uncomfortable too ... and scissors are no fun ...
someone once told me that left handed people die sooner than right handed people ... because they are forced to do everything like a right handed person
"it's physically impossible to lick your elbow" I CAN DO IT ... as well as plenty of people on youtube ... which i find a little weird that they are posting videos about licking their elbows ... i just use it as a party trick ... apparently a friend of mine was talking about me licking my elbow in one of her classes and some girl turned around and said that i couldnt ... she doesnt know me ... plus she has been lied to ...

or at least thats how it used to be for me ... same with one of my roommates ... she used to throw up after eating any kind of fruit ... but now any more ... so i decided to research this a little for all those who have lost their allergies ... ive discovered from a medical website that children typically become allergic to food they eat the most (aka strawberries for me) ... and they grow out of them ... but adults don't grow out of theirs ... aka im never gonna get rid of this allergy to cats ... not that im eating cats ... im just saying im allergic to being in the general vicinity of cats
despite the fact that ive grown out of this allergy ... i still avoid strawberries like the plague
i dont know about anyone else but as a child i was never allowed to play video games that had violence in them ... none of those one on one fighting to the death type things ... so obviously i grew up to be a believer in the fact that violent video games makes someone act violently ...
just the other day i was hanging out at a friend's place and 2 guys were playing one of those shooting games ... and asked me if i wanted to join ... ive come to the conclusion that i never want to get on those guys bad side ... the entire game they kept sneaking up behind me a shooting me in the back ...
oh and i also think that stupid cartoons kill brain cells

at a very young age i was told that only 2 things would survive a nuclear explosion ... cockroaches and twinkies (besides the characters from Family Guy apparently) ... well i brought it up to a friend and she said that Mythbusters proved that wrong ... not about the cockroaches unfortunately but the twinkies ... apparently they go bad after about 2 weeks and they don't stand a chance in nuclear warfare ... why anyone would want to eat one fried is a mystery to me ... or just eat one at all ...
i did a little research on cockroaches and twinkies because they both confuse me ... and i discovered that cockroaches worsen childhood asthma symptoms ... and twinkies are not a chemical reaction ... they are actually baked and injected with cream filling
the 'just for you' section of itunes helped me find this song along with several others but ive had this one stuck in my head all day so it gets to be on the blog ... im really not a fan of the music video but i love the song ... they are quite a lot like interpol (aka the video in the post before this)
so about my earlier post about how i didnt like drawing on airplanes ... well i realized that no one really cares ... im just being paranoid ... and i know this drawing looks similar but it's a totally different drawing of a totally different person ...
currently my roommate is trying to write a children's story for one of her classes (something to do with child psychology ... i don't know she wants to be a 2nd grade teacher for some odd reason) ... and we have been bouncing ideas around about little Patrick and his cowboy boots (because she asked for my help in illustrating the book as well as just rando creative input) ... at first little Patrick was going to get his grandpa's boots but it was confusing as to how Patrick came to possess these boots ... so trying to make it logical we figured they could just be hanging around and he could find them ... and/or be given of the boots ... but why would he be given rotten old boots ... so the ideas turned to grandpa dying and leaving the boots to Patrick in his will ... but that was morbid also children might hope for the death of their relatives in order to receive gifts (i don't know ... kids are selfish) ... so that idea was thrown out ... so we decided that Patrick's mommy was going to work 3 jobs in order to afford boots for Patrick ... but that just didn't sound right ... so we went back to Patrick finding them ... but then the question was where did he find them ... i figured they were shoes ... they belong in a closet ... so he went looking in his parents closet ... BAD IDEA ... in my rando cartoon world where Patrick lives ... his mommy and daddy keep dirty things in the closet ... anyway ... she gave up because the project isn't due for a while ... so im left with a cliffhanger ...
i was going to post the song but this group called Paranoiattack ... but there wasnt a good video ... and i like this song better ... plus crazy video ... personally i have to watch the video twice ... once to read it (because i have to block everything else out to read it) ... and the second time to just listen because i like the song ... the whole cd is pretty awesome im not gonna lie
i don't know about anyone else but most of the time i'm a little bit of an introvert ... i know quite a few people that would argue that statement but it's the truth ... have been for years ... i think it has something to do with all those years of riding the bus to a public school ... i dont know ... but the only thing that bugs me about airplanes is having to sit next to someone for an extended period of time ... i swear whoever came up with the seats of an airplane must have really liked invading others personal space ...
also i don't like drawing while sitting on that plane next to a stranger ... even though this drawing was done on my plane ride home for thanksgiving ... last time i drew on a plane was on a flight to new orleans ... and some lady named Trish told me that i should draw portraits of people for the rest of my life ... that i could probably make a decent living from just that ... of course i didnt take much advice from my buddy Trish because she smelled strongly of beer and had ordered two more drinks the second she got her seat belt figured out ... this drawing on the other hand i covered with my hand as i drew so the guy next to me couldn't see it ... but he couldn't care less ... he just wanted to go snowboarding

as i was doing my laundry today ... i rode the elevator from the basement to the first floor because i tend to wait so long to do my laundry that it's too heavy for me to carry it ... so i was staring at the wall in the elevator when i realize there are words scratched into the walls ... being that i live on the first floor i never have a need to ride the elevator so i would have never thought about this before ... of course all the words on the wall were dirty ... and first of all we aren't in middle school anymore ... there is no need to carve anything into a wall and or anything for that matter ... im going to take this time to admit that in the 8th grade i did carve the word "vandalism" into a desk thinking i was incredably clever ... anyway ... as i was reading these words ... feeling gravely disappointed in the people who typically ride that particularelevator ... i came across a word ... that was written several times ... there were even drawings of it on the wall ... but this particular time it was misspelled ... i go to school with these idiots ...
long story short ... if you do choose to vandalize ... please spell the word correctly
this is a band i have been looking for everywhere ... they have yet to release an album but their dang myspace page (and i say dang myspace page because im not myspace's biggest fan ... nor was i ever) says that they will be coming out with a single soon of the song of theirs that i like more than this one
it's my new philosophy ... i read it somewhere and ive been trying to go by it ... i tried the carpe diem thing (after i got hit by a car while biking across campus last year) and it didnt work out for me ... so im going with this one ... which is very similar now that i think about it
so this weekend ... i learned how to drive a motorcycle ... ive been told so many times about the dangers of motorcycles and yet i did it ... it was pretty exciting ... i was also a passenger on a motorcycle on the highway ... which is rather scary im not gonna lie ...
just last night i was front row center at the Polyphonic Spree concert ... also equally as scary ... for two reasons ... their concerts are occationally compared to acid trips ... ive never experence an acid trip ... but if thats what it's like then it's pretty freaky ... and i think they tried to get me to join a cult ...
and today i donated blood ... im not a fan of needles ... i never got my ears pierced because i just dont like needles (plus now that everyone and their mother has their ears pierced ... it makes me different ... and i just dont like earrings) anyway ... i dont like needles and if anyone has ever given blood before they will know the hugeness of this needle that they stick in your arm ... i didnt know that ... thanks guys ... plus on top of all that ... it's not even in a normal environment ... they stick you on a bus ... the blood bus probably scares me more than just giving blood in general ...
It took me forever to figure out how to get this image up because it kept saying that it was a "bad request" ... it was because the image was saved as a certain kind of file that it really just didn't like ... i dont know why ... because it's an awesome picture
i took this picture in Taos, New Mexico over the summer ... i was taking photography out there for summer school ... and for this image i was actually wandering the grocery store taking pictures for an assignment and one of the employees came up to me and asked if i needed a landscape picture and i did ... so i followed him ... creepy i know ... but i went upstairs ... through the employee only section ... out to this little balcony ... i guess it was their smoking section or something ... and they had this view ... i took some really quick pictures because i was a little creeped out ... but this one is one of my favorites of all of my photographs ... because it's an awesome photo and it got a great little story behind it ... the guy said that he could have gotten into a lot of trouble if anyone saw me in the employee only section
i did change it in photoshop a little ... to boost the color and what not
so ive been talking a lot about recent music videos that are weird ... well now im starting to think that they are more normal compared to the older music videos ... this is one of my favorite older songs ... this is the stuff that my dad used to make me listen to when we were in the car while i was growing up ... and i absolutely hated it ... but now it's the music i listen to when no one is around
and to explain the title of todays blog ... the photography teacher said that everything was a little off or different in Taos ... nothing would really go the way you expected or wanted ... it was the Taos way ...
for example ... the one and only photo developing store in Taos closed down ... so it was either drive an hour to Santa Fe to get your photos developed or work digitally ... also ... don't mess with the locals ...
For my painting class i needed a bunch of little glass jars ... for something ... im really not too sure what i need them for ... but the professor said that baby food jars were the best ... well i dont know anyone around here with a baby ... so i bought some baby food for the cans ... but it seems sort of wasteful ... so my roommate and i decided to try some ... probably the worst idea of my life ... never ... ever ... eat baby food ... i feel as though i can empathize with babys now
we rated the baby foods from worst to best above ... starting at the top left going to the bottom right ... i actually tricked my roommate into eating quite a big bite of the peaches, oatmeal and banana by saying it was not half bad and waiting until after she took a bite of it to say that it was not half bad compared to the turkey
if you look closely at the applesauce ... half of it was eaten ... it tasted just like applesauce just a little mushy-er

I typically use sarcasm on a daily basis without second thought to whether or not it is harming others ... i like to think of myself as a funny person ... but i wouldnt want my humor to mainly be at the expense of others ... sarcasm can be taken many different ways and one being really badly ... a friend of mine in middle school and i would constantly be getting into fights because of some random sarcastic comment that i made while we were instant messaging ... because sarcasm difficult for some to read and understand apparently ... i also got yelled at for a few sarcastic comments ive made ... all bad things ... but sarcasm can also be good ... if used properly (with good timing) it can be the most hilarious thing ever ... and laughter is the best medicine right? (unless you have just had jaw or lower abdominal surgery ... then it could hurt quite a bit) ... and everyone should enjoy a good laugh daily ... which i thoroughly enjoy providing for others ...
this video is beyond amazing ... awesome song that i love ... and ever since my sister showed me this video ive wanted to ride my bike (which is pretty much the exact same as the one in the video) around at night with a mask ... it's incredibly creatively weird ... and i love it ... i hope you love it too ... even in the slightest bit ...
Whoever decided that it would be a good idea to put tv shows online is my hero ... i can just imagine people in their little business suits sitting around a table just coming up with all these crazy ideas ... like "lets have our phones have the internet ... what was that ... anna lee just updated her awesome blog ... thanks phone" ... or "let's put a glue type substance on the back of an image and call it a sticker" and then ... suddenly out of no where some person who was just sitting in his or her cubicle comes running in and says "business guys ... we should put tv shows that ran the night before online for all the people who missed it ... wouldnt that be rad?" Im about to watch Heroes online because i had a sorority chapter meeting during the premiere ... and last year i didnt even own a tv ... so I got to enjoy all of the two tv shows i ever watch, online

Just the other day (aka yesterday) someone jokingly threatened to shank me ... for one i know this person would never actually harm me or anyone else in any way ... and two ... they were using a noun as a verb ... and people seem to be doing that a lot lately ... when i brought up the whole shanking conversation later i was asked to tell the difference between a shank and a shiv ... so i googled it ... yes thats right ... i just said googled ... it's in the dictionary now as a verb ... ive been trying for a while now to get people to say that they imdbed a movie (imdb.com ... check it out ... and use it was a verb) ... but it doesnt seem to be catching on ... well google didnt give me much information on shanks or shivs ... so i looked it up in the dictionary ... an online dictionary ... because who actually looks through a real dictionary anymore
Dictionary definitions: Shank - a dagger made by a prison inmate from available materials Shiv - a knife or razor used as a weapon
So a shank doesn't necessarily have to be a shiv ... sure they can make a dagger but they dont have to use it as a weapon ... although i dont know why they would be making a shank with no intentions of using it ... and you probably won't find a shiv in prison to use as a shank ... although my only perspective of prison comes from Arrested Development (the clip below ... not the one i wanted but it's funny none the less) ... so i could be completely off
I also figured i should make a brief list of nouns that i've heard used as verbs ... but they all involved violent actions so i decided against it

whenever im brushing my teeth and im staring at the faucet ... because i think it's just a little awkward to stare at yourself while brushing your teeth ... i get this very vivid image of a video i was shown in the 5th grade or something about conserving water ... it was a cartoon of this kid brushing his teeth and leaving the water running ... there was a pond near by with a little fish swimming in it all cute and what not ... and the water level to the pond keeps going down as the little boy leaves the faucet going ... and you're just sitting there thinking "that little bastard" ... and then feel all guilty for one. calling that cartoon child a bastard ... and two. for leaving the faucet running while brushing your teeth ... because it's animal abuse ... and that could lead to even more serious stuff ... such as child abuse ... and no one wants to see a cartoon child get kicked around for brushing his teeth ... so to conclude today's lesson ... save the cartoon children and tiny fish ... turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth

Soulwax always has some pretty interesting videos (aka this one) ... even if you don't listen to the music (if you have sudden urges to punch cartoon children or any sort of children when you hear any techno ... then please don't listen) the video is pretty informative ... im not trying to make any statement putting this video on here ... i just found it interesting ... i usually run to their music ... because of the really intense beat and what not ...
I'm pretty much convinced that my painting is just getting worse ... but the painting teacher seems to like it now ... although my painting seems to be turning to crap ... i had my first good day in painting class ... i dont know why ... i wasnt completely lost and constantly told that i have horrible visualization skills ... so it was a good day ...

As I was sitting in the cafeteria today at dinner eating my topless broccoli (yes thats right ... the broccoli was topless ... it was only the broccoli stems ... it's also a dirty pirate hooker) and mystery meats ... i was thinking about how since i came to college ... meals are no longer enjoyed ... they are slightly dreaded ... and something to be wolfed down before you can even taste it ... and i decided to slow down a little ... i tried my best to enjoy this odd meal ... i made a huge mistake
this song ive had stuck in my head all day ... so i looked for the video ... and it's super creepy ... and it kind of freaks me out ... just a bit ... it's a great song ... or at least i think so ... and i thought the video would be awesome because it's a drawing ... but it's weird ... it's just really really weird ... so i figured i would just add another video ... of a different song ... with the same name ... but it turns out that this next one is just as weird ... less weird ... but still pretty weird

i've decided for today's post that i'm going to share some of my wisdom with all of you people out there ... but i lost the notecard that had all this wisdom written down ... which made me a little sad at first but then i realized that whoever found my notecard got some really excellent tips for life in general ... lucky for yall ... i vaguely remembered what was written on this card ... something along the lines of "Sniff the milk before you drink it" ... and "Ask someone if you can hold their hand while crossing the street" ... it's a super special awkward pick up line and a helpful safety tip
Also i've decided to include my most random thought of the day ... but i thought about this yesterday (by the way i spelled yesterday wrong on the last post ... saturday and yesterday always throw me off) ... so here it is ... the most random thought i had: "clearly the duck was offended" ...
So I originally picked Land of a Thousand Words by the Scissor Sisters to be my video for today's post ... but (yeah i know ... another saga) apparently for that video you have to request to embed it ... so i did what most would call a "cop out" and choose another video ... this one is the first Scissor Sisters song i heard and how i fell in love with them ... and how ive gotten others (4 people so far) to fall in love with them ... this is one of those songs that i turn up really loud and sing along to in my car ... and if people look at me funny i roll down my window and sing to them ... this video is wonderful and hilarious ... and the song is more than amazing ...

So I'm Anna Lee ... I've never done a blog before so there's a first time for everything. A lot of my art is probably going to be posted because for one I love drawing. Also I have this crazy book that I glue things from magazines in. It's pretty cool.
Just so you know the picture quaility will improve ... I forgot my digital camera, that I worked so hard at Sonic for to buy, in some state north of texas ... but it will be retrieved
So I was almost named after this song (I think it had something to do with the parents coming up with my name last minute and the song being on the radio) ... and I thought the video was pretty awkward/amazingly weird
